Military in government posts?

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 28, 2008

I’m not against putting uniformed men into any government position, as long as they are qualified for the said position. When we say “qualified,” it means observing certain standards set forth by the country’s civil service.
But reality bites!
Under the Arroyo administration, over 56% of government managers are not qualified based on the required four levels [...]

I want rice, not bread!

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 25, 2008

I want rice more than bread in dining table, even during breakfast time. I have just watched the news on “Tinapay ng Bayan” stuff of the Arroyo government maybe aiming to lessen the burden of rice shortage on the Filipino people. I doubt this would divert our attention to the existing problem on rice in [...]

Is sexuality an issue in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center scandal?

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 25, 2008

Sexuality is never an issue in the operation of a 37 years old homosexual at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), as what has pointed out by a certain bishop of Cebu. The bishop has told the public in an statement that the victim himself is at fault.
Whatever the reason behind his admission to [...]

On Human Rights Situation in the Philippines

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 21, 2008

Human rights situation in the country is at the alarming stage.

In a report of human rights group Karapatan, 902 leftwing activists were victims of summary executions and 180 political activists were victims of enforced disappearances from 2001 up to present, of course under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

I remember the two UP students who were reportedly abducted [...]

Kudos to my Alma Mater!

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 16, 2008

The Masbate National Comprehensive High School has never failed to achieve its mission of molding every Masbateño youth into being responsible, intelligent, creative and productive member of Masbate province and of Philippine society.

Just recently, four students of MNCHS were chosen to represent the country at the international forum “Fishes Feed Us” and given the chance [...]

What can a family buy from 139 pesos?

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 14, 2008

I wonder how the National Statistical Coordination Board arrived at Php139 budget for a family of five to eat a regular meal, meaning having a meal in every family’s table three times a day. It is a survey from this policy making and statistical body of the government. The question now is that how reliable [...]

Months of March and April are graduation time in the Philippines. Many students from elementary to high school and even to college are about to bid farewell to their beloved Alma Mater. They would be threading the next path in their lives, the next higher ladder as they move along. To an elementary pupil, graduation [...]

Posted by: joselito capariño on: April 8, 2008

I can’t accept the fact that we have rice problem in our midst despite numerous reasons of the government.
I can’t accept the fact the we need to import rice from Vietnam, Thailand and the United States. We are an agricultural country blessed with fertile land suitable for farming and cultivating.
I can’t accept the fact that [...]
